Total performing rights revenue surpassed $350 million last year, up 6.4% from the year prior. Royalties distributed to SOCAN members reached more than $300 million, a record high for the group.

Digital audio companies leanStream and Media Sales Lab announced that they have merged into a single entity. The company will combine the audio ad network of Media Sales Lab with leanStream’s global audio streaming network of more than 400 radio stations. The merger is effective as of June 1 and the new business will retain the name leanStream, which will be responsible for producing the inaugural Digital Audio Advertising North Summit in Canada.

The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) announced that it collected C$330 million ($249.3 million) in 2016 total revenues. Streaming revenue skyrocketed up 118% over the previous year.
