Review: Musonomics podcast offers deep dive on industry issues

We’re always looking for new podcasts to add to our listening queue, and so today we took a listen to a new program called Musonomics. It’s a twice-monthly podcast about the music and culture industries that just debuted its first episode last week. Larry Miller is the host, and the program has backing from the NYU Steinhardt Music Business Program, where he is a professor. Tidal makes another offering to indie artists with Discovery

The latest plan is for a new feature called Discovery that bypasses the third-party distribution model for independent artists. She comes to iHeart from the Federal Communications Commission, where she was director of the legislative affairs department. Norway plans history-making FM shutoff for all-digital

Norway has become the first nation to set a timeline for mandatory shutoff of FM broadcasting. The country will go all-digital (DAB and DAB+) in 2017, as decided by the Ministry of Culture. WBEZ receives $2 million Pritzker grant

Chicago Public Media’s WBEZ radio station received a grant of $2 million to finance its digital expansion. The money from the Pritzker Foundation is the largest donation the station has received, although WBEZ will need to raise a matching amount to receive the grant over three years. Guvera hits 10 million user benchmark

According to the company’s press release, the streaming platform has seen growth of more than 35,000 users joining daily over the past 22 weeks.
