Apple reportedly renegotiates lower payments to Warner

Apple has reportedly inked a new licensing deal with Warner Music Group. Unnamed sources told Bloomberg that the updated arrangement will see Apple paying a smaller share of its revenue. The tech company may also be near to a similar deal update with Sony Music Entertainment, although does not appear to have progressed in talks with Universal Music Group. Continue Reading

BMI reaches record-high revenue and distributions in FY 2017

Performing rights organization BMI shared the financial results from the 2017 fiscal year. Annual revenue reached a record high of $1.13 billion. Distributions and administrations to artists totaled $1.023 billion, another record figure. According to the press release, BMI’s 2017 results are the largest public performance revenue and royalty distributions of any music rights organization worldwide. Continue Reading

Panoply debuts six shows in its fall lineup, including its first scripted comedy

Panoply Media has unveiled its fall podcast lineup, including its first foray into scripted comedy. The two scripted programs in the lineup came about thanks to the work of John Dryden, who was recently hired as the company’s head of scripted programming.
