If you’re not into video games, Twitch may not be on your radar. That could change in the coming months thanks to a new move aimed at bringing more musicians into its stable of video broadcasters. Twitch made its name as a platform for live video streams of people playing video games. Much like YouTube, the network has many stars who have attracted large viewerships for their entertaining personalities or skilled gameplay. Survey shows video driving music discovery, especially for younger listeners

Most of today’s online music services include some feature that encourages listeners to discover new artists and songs. According to a new study from MusicWatch, though, the biggest driver of discovery is actually online video. Spotify to test optional ‘takeover’ video ads on its free tier

Spotify is getting visual with its latest advertising approach. The streaming service said it will test a new approach on its free version that offers listeners 30 minutes of uninterrupted listening in exchange for watching a video ad. Survey: Big jump in online radio & streaming video advertising

A new buy-side survey from STRATA indicates that advertising demand for online radio advertising increased 53% from a year ago. During the same time frame, there is a 45% increase of interest in streaming video. Sixty-seven percent of ad agencies polled said the greatest interest among client advertisers was video. Vadio partners with Vevo, provides “Radio worth watching”

Last week Vadio, a video-technology platform, announced a partnership with Vevo, a music video portal. The deal gives Vadio access to Vevo videos, for inclusion in curated video streams that Vadio synchs up with radio station webcasts. Vevo embodies a catalog of 100,000 high-quality song videos, concert events, and original programming. The alliance allows Vadio to enhance its existing repertoire of videos from which it curates programming for radio stations and other clients.
