Australian podcast host Omny Studio released a new tool for sharing audio on Facebook. The company now offers automatically generated waveform videos called Visualised Audio. These customizable clips are intended to help podcasters get their shows ranked higher by the algorithms used by the social network, since uploading native videos improves their likelihood of being seen. Omny is making the new feature available for its customers on the Professional plan and higher.
Several audio specialists have been trialling ways to get audio to perform on social networks. Most do not have a native audio option but also penalize posts that link away from the network in their algorithms. Omny Studio has been developing an audiovisual cross-over option since the beginning of the year. WNYC made its own social audio post format, and Australia’s Whooshkaa was one of the first to get access to Facebook’s own audio sharing tech.
