iHeartRadio is launching in Canada this month. Plans to go north were first announced in January, when parent company iHeartMedia entered a partnership with Bell Media. Now the pair have set Oct. 10 as the official launch date, but Bell Media is making the service available now as part of a special preview period.
The Canadian version will offer the free digital radio service on the iHeartRadio.ca website and on both iOS and Android apps. “iHeartRadio Canada harnesses the strength of Bell Media’s radio stations in addition to more than 100 exclusive, curated digital music stations, placing them all conveniently at the fingertips of every Canadian,” said Randy Lennox, Bell Media’s president of Entertainment Production and Broadcasting, Bell Media.
The press release did not discuss whether Canada would be included in the rollout of the two planned iHeartRadio subscription services. Last month, iHeartMedia announced two on-demand services that will debut in January, at least in the U.S.
