YouTube has promoted Carletta Higginson to director, global head of music publishing. Higginson has been under the Google umbrella for five years, most recently as director, music publishing in North America for YouTube and Google Play Music. Prior to joining Google, she was a partner in litigation at Jenner & Block LLP.
YouTube closed 2018 with a heavy presence in the How Google Fights Piracy report. The analysis said that the audio-video platform paid $1.8 billion in advertising revenue to the music industry. Most recently, YouTube Music secured an integration with Sonos smart speakers following a big revamp of the subscription service earlier in 2018.
