Audacy erases the Cadence13 brand, creates Audacy Podcasts.

A day after we reported that AdvertiseCast lost its name in a branding reorganization by parent company Libsyn, and was renamed Libsyn Ads, we learn that audio giant Audacy is doing something similar.

In this case, Audacy will discontinue the Cadence13 brand, moving the unit into the newly created Audacy Podcasts group. Audacy (then called Entercom)  acquired Cadence13 in August, 2019. (RAIN coverage HERE.)

Cadence13 started as DGital Media, rebranding to its current name in 2017 (RAIN coverage HERE.)

At the same time, Entercom/Audacy acquired Pineapple Street Media, also a podcast studio, in a whopping commitment to podcasting by a major U.S. radio group. Pineapple Street is part of today’s news; it, too, will be moved into Audacy Podcasts — but will keep its brand identification. Pineapple works with outside partners like HBO, Netflix, AppleTV, and a wide array of corporate brands, in addition to making original shows.

All this occurs within Audacy’s emergence from bankruptcy. Part of that reorg included laying off 25 percent of the Pineapple Street staff.
