Apple Music has a duo of updates today. First, the streaming music service has surpassed 40 million paid subscribers. The platform’s numbers have been steadily edging up in recent months, reporting 30 million in September, 36 million in February, and 38 million in March.
The second announcement is a promotion within the ranks. Oliver Schusser has received a new title of vice president of Apple Music & International Content. In this role, the 14-year Apple veteran will lead Apple Music Worldwide. According to Variety, an unnamed insider claimed that Schusser’s promotion would not impact the role of Jimmy Iovine, who has been instrumental in Apple Music’s success without holding a formal title. Iovine has been rumored to be scaling back his efforts with Apple, possibly even departing the company.
Congratulations to Apple Music, it has achieved success with 40 million subs and wished the new leader to grow.
