Indian streaming service Saavn announced the original programming roster that it will debut this month and next. The shows include Film Companion with Anupama Chopra and #NoFilter Neha hosted by Neha Dhupia. Both are long-form audio/talk shows.
“In addition to widening our fan base, these new shows will help to solidify Saavn’s transition from music streaming to becoming a global entertainment streaming hub,” said Gaurav Wadhwa, Saavn’s vice president of entertainment and originals. “We’re ecstatic to bring these shows to our growing audience and can’t wait to bring them even more fantastic programming.”
Leaders from the company have been talking about plans for video, long-form audio, and original content over the past year. The U.S.-based company began as a music-only platform, acting as a digital distributor of Indian and Western music. It has emerged as one of the top services for the Indian audience, and its longer-term goals include expansion into other corners of online entertainment.
