The Day
Today is International Podcast Day, founded in 2014 by Dave Lee. The main celebrative event is the People’s Choice Podcast Awards, whose ceremony and bestowal ceremony is tonight (September 30 at 8pm ET). An enormous slate of ~300 shows is under consideration in 30 categories. This awards program started in 2005. All the info is HERE.
Streamlining With AI
In March of 2024 Triton Digital acquired podcast platform Sounder, and we learn that Sounder’s Promo Hub — a feature which automates tasks related to podcast promotion and content creation — has been integrated into Triton’s Audio Insights Dashboard. Promo Hub aims to streamline generating episode descriptions, show notes, social media content, and promotional articles using AI technology. It’s designed for individual podcasters, but works as well for larger teams. Sharon Taylor, Triton’s Senior Vice President, Podcast Strategy and Operations, promises to integrate the tool into Triton-owned Omny Studio and Spreaker platforms.
Welcoming
At its meeting earlier last week, podcast platform Libsyn welcomed Lauren Jarvis to the Board of Directors. She has held leadership roles in corporate and business development at both private and public companies. As a former executive at Spotify, where she was head of content partnerships from 2018 to 2021. She has also been a venture scout for Kleiner Perkins, focusing on seed-stage investments across consumer and SaaS.
