Another view on Nielsen data: The Nielsen mid-year report offers a snapshot of music sales in the United States. Statista extrapolated the data into a chart assessing music consumption in the country. Based on Statista’s view, on-demand streaming accounts for 75% of U.S. music consumption during the first half of the year.

Pandora exec talks audio ads: Audio is a growing sector for advertising. Steven Kritzman, senior vice president of advertising sales at Pandora, penned a post for AdWeek about how brands can pursue this field. “It’s vital that advertisers look at the driving forces behind the growth of audio,” he wrote. “Diversity in content, personalized user experience and almost infinite distribution channels have allowed users to spend as much time with audio today as they want to, wherever and whenever they like.”
