In-car radio listening “at its low point” (Jacobs Media Techsurvey)

In a blog post written by Fred Jacobs, Jacobs Media reveals that in-car broadcast radio listening, as a percentage of time spent listening, is at its lowest point in a span of 2018 to 2022. This teaser result is from the upcoming annual Techsurvey presentation scheduled for release in April. The Techsurvey project interviews thousands of individuals, most of whom are acquired from radio station contact lists and are presumably regular radio listeners.

As illustrated in the graphic below, the downward shift over five years ranges from 62% in 2018 to 56% in 2022 — a slide of nearly ten percent.

The slice of these pies representing podcasting is interesting. The one-year increase from 4% to 5% might seem small because the wedge is small … but that is a 25% jump
