Sara Morris has joined iHeartMedia as senior director of government affairs. She comes to iHeart from the Federal Communications Commission, where she was director of the legislative affairs department. Morris also spent time as a deputy director and telecommunications policy analyst in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Congressional Affairs.
iHeartMedia is the latest online audio company to beef up its staff specializing in government issues. For instance, Spotify recently signed on lobbying firms to represent its interests in D.C. and Pandora now has a VP of global content licensing. Given the number of major legal topics that are up for debate in Congress, at the Department of Justice, and at the Copyright Royalty Board, it’s little surprise that audio services want to have as much expertise at their backs as possible.
