Apple Music made its Russian debut last summer, and the numbers coming out of the market show some early promise. The streaming service appears to have 300,000 subscribers so far in Russia, sources have told both Vedomosti and Billboard. That figure would make Russia one of the top five biggest markets for Apple Music so far. Reps from Apple’s Russian office have not commented on the performance.
Yandex.Music, which is operated by a Russian search provider, is the top streaming service in that country. Apple probably places second or third, with Google Play Music a wild card that has not disclosed any subscriber numbers.
The big news about Apple Music this week was the report that the new kid on the streaming block had hit 10 million paying subscribers.
