Spotify has been tightening its integration with Facebook, particularly with the social network’s direct chat system. After an initial integration in 2016, followed by capabilities for group playlist creation in June, Facebook Messenger can now offer Spotify music recommendations.
The suggestions come from Facebook’s intelligent assistant M, a chatbot that monitors the language in conversations to make recommendations to the social platform’s users. Using a phrase like “play some music” will now spark M to offer a “Find Music” prompt with a Spotify logo. Tapping the prompt will open a web view of the streaming service that allows sharing tracks you’ve recently played or songs featured by Spotify.
