DAB+ radios still on the rise in Switzerland

Switzerland flag canvasData from the group Marketing and Consulting for Digital Technologies tracked the growth of DAB+ radios in Switzerland. Last year saw sales of 454,000 DAB+ receivers in the nation. That amounted to a total of 2.4 million devices on the market in that country by the end of 2015. The number of sets among Swiss population have been growing steadily since 2006. Interest among Swiss broadcasters has also grown, with 90 DAB+ stations currently on the air.

Previous research into Switzerland found that DAB+ radio and Internet radio each accounted for equal amounts of the country’s total digital radio listening. An assessment of digital radio from the European Broadcasting Union also highlighted the Swiss market as a leader for the technology in the EU. It showed 99% technical coverage between DAB and DAB+ sets.
