Amazon has hired Alex Luke to join its music team as Global Head of Programming & Content Strategy. He will report directly to Steve Boom, Amazon Music’s vice president. Luke’s resume before joining Amazon includes stints as a venture capital firm founder and as worldwide director of music programming and label relations at Apple. He was also a featured speaker at RAIN Summit West in 2015.
Amazon Music Unlimited, the company’s on-demand subscription, began rolling out worldwide in late 2016. The tech giant also hired a new head of editorial for its music team, poaching former Rolling Stone executive editor Nathan Brackett.
