Prime Music rolls out radio, lyrics in UK

amazon music logo canvasAmazon’s Prime Music service has added more features for its UK listeners. The platform now offers hundreds of radio stations in that market, along with a song lyrics display from X-Ray Lyrics for tens of thousands of tracks. These features were first introduced to U.S. listeners in March.

The streaming service has been available in the UK for six months, and according to Amazon UK’s head of music Paul Firth, growth has been happening “at a faster rate than expected.” He reaffirmed the message Amazon has been sending stateside about Prime Music: it’s not trying to take down Spotify or Pandora. (Pandora does not operate in the U.K.) But that doesn’t mean Firth doesn’t see room for Prime to take off. “You could argue we’re still only scratching the surface in terms of growth potential,” he said.
