YouTube Music has embarked on a push of international expansion, bringing the paid music-video subscription tier to 14 new markets. The latest countries where YouTube Music and YouTube Premium are now available are Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, South Africa, and Uruguay.
The YouTube rollout in India is of particular notice. That market has been getting attention from the international music and media brands. Spotify recently made an official launch there, netting 1 million new users in a week and getting caught in an ongoing legal debate with Warner Music Group. YouTube’s pricing for this increasingly competitive market will include free, ad-supported access to YouTube Music. YouTube Premium will cost 129 rupees (~$1.86) per month and YouTube Music Premium will cost 99 rupees ($1.42) per month.
