TuneCore inks YouTube-centric deal with DanceOn

TuneCore canvasTuneCore announced a partnership with digital entertainment network DanceOn. Under this deal, TuneCore will offer its independent artists more options for creating content and reaching audiences on YouTube. DanceOn is a dance-centric entertainment network that has generated more than 3 billion views and 20 million subscribers on Google’s video service.

“Online video has now become one of the most effective channels for breaking new music and getting artists worldwide attention, and these kinds of YouTube collaborations are fantastic opportunities for independent artists working outside the label model to get their music heard and build an active and engaged fan base,” TuneCore CEO Scott Ackerman said.

TuneCore recently merged with Believe Digital, but it has been pursuing other developments aimed at offering more distribution and visibility to its artists. The company’s artist payments in Q1 totaled more than $36 million, up 5% from the same period last year.
