Triton digital is out today with its latest US Podcast Report, a top-100 ranking of podcasts measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics. There are two top-100 lists: One for top podcasts by download count (basically plays), and one for user count (basically audience size). Neither of those lists contains actual counts — they are just ranking lists. In each one, NPR claims six of the top 10 spots.
This reporting period is the 4-week stretch of March 16 through April 12. the ranking is based on average weekly metrics, for both downloads and users.
This report also ranks the top 10 podcast publishers, again for both downloads and users, and those glimpses are more informative — we see actual download and user counts (again based on average weekly calculations).
Below are the two network reports. Keep scrolling down to see RAIN’s Remix of the network reports, showing how the rankers are shuffled when measuring downloads and users per active show in the network.
We like to remix these reports as an exploration of how each network’s downloads and users are distributed (as an average) across each of the network shows. RADIO.COM has the largest network, and Focus On the Family the smallest. Following are the remixes — note that NBC News gains the most when we look at concentration of audience and downloads into each show (on average), moving it from #6 to #2.
