Bill Simmons is launching a new podcast network under HBO’s umbrella. The Bill Simmons Podcast Network has unveiled a new property dubbed Channel 33. Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan will co-host the show, which seems most closely related to the Hollywood Prospectus feature on Grantland, the podcast and media network Simmons created for ESPN. Simmons began airing his own eponymous show in late September, a re-launch of his popular ESPN program.
Simmons departed ESPN earlier this year after some conflict with the sports station. He quickly signed a new contract with HBO, and some of the editorial talent from Grantland also left with him. ESPN shuttered Grantland shortly after news broke of Simmons moving to HBO.
