Quick Hits: Grantland editor exodus; community radio participation

Brief news items and worthy reads from around the web:

Grantland editor exodus to HBO: The news that writer and podcaster Bill Simmons would be leaving ESPN for HBO has led to a shakeup at Grantland, the website and podcast network he spearheaded. Four of its editors have resigned to join Simmons at HBO. A fifth editor, co-founder Dan Fierman, also left to join up at MTV.

Measuring community radio participation: Radio Survivor has an article examining research into community radio practices around the world. The resulting toolkit, produced by scholars at India’s University of Hyderabad, includes some formulas for measuring participation in those broadcasts. “Community radio should be able to showcase the range of possibilities in radio production that are often missing in commercial radio,” they said.
