Things End

We learn today that venerable podcast hosting, analysis, and monetization platform Libsyn has discontinued its monthly CPM trending report. RAIN and many other institutions relied on that clockwork number as one gauge of robustness in the podcast advertising industry. We reached out to Brendan Monaghan, recently installed Libsyn CEO (RAIN coverage HERE) — for confirmation. “Libsyn is discontinuing its monthly CPM reporting as we refine our thought leadership roadmap,” Monaghan told us. “I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead with the Libsyn community and more newsworthy initiatives.” We grieve, but all things end eventually.

 

Honor Roll

The International Women In Music Awards were bestowed in London, in a 10th anniversary celebration. The event was sponsored by SoundCloud, and is designed to celebrate “the remarkable achievements and contributions of women across all facets of the music industry.” Sixteen executives were named in the so-called Roll of Honour (HERE).  The headline recognition for International Woman of the Year went to Molly Neuman, president of CD Baby. Now he relishes a new radio gig,

 

Like Nothing Else

Jam Street Media founder Matty Staudt’s audio career has taken him through nearly two dozen companies, serving in roles from board op to executive, nighttime jock to Pixar voiceovers, producer to program director, and more. Now he is back on the air at Audacy’s KLLC in San Francisco. “Beng on the air is like nothing else,” he observes. “Radio listeners are amazing.”He acknowledges the brutality of a 3:30 AM wakeup call (but “It’s like riding a “bike,” he says).
