Dead Or Alive?

Journalist, speaker, author, and public radio personality Celeste Headley issues the final episode of her podcast Hear Me Out, featuring Nick Hilton, founder of podcast production house Podot. The two podcast thought leaders discuss whether, how, and why podcasting might be nearing its end as a media category. The episode title — “Podcasting Is Dead” — gives a clue to the conversational tone. They explain the business mechanisms of podcast advertising, and how quickly that business has changed. “Podcasting is a different industry than it was even just a few years ago […] Most hosts and producers now are struggling to stay afloat or they’re getting laid off.  … Small creators have very little shot at making it big […] Legacy media organizations are trying to figure out how to make these shows profitable.” Listen to this frank and fascinating conversation HERE or read the transcript HERE.

A Happy Return

From Jam Street Media founder Matty Staudt, we learn of his return to the radio airwaves at KLLC (“Alice”) in San Francisco. It’s an Audacy station. It has been a 16-year separation for Staudt, who left the airwaves to join Stitcher. He is rejoining as executive Producer and “third mic: for The Sarah and Vinnie Show. “I have been trying to focus on things I love these days,” e confesses, “and I have always loved radio!”
