Two Paths Diverged In a PDF

“There are so many music industry metrics and financial results flying around these days that it can be difficult to keep up with them all.” That’s Mark Mulligan, Managing Director and Analyst at MIDiA Research, a client-serving research group focused on the modern music industry. MIDiA has released the first in a new quarterly research series about music market metrics. This Q2 edition is titled Bifurcation is here. Two bifurcations are analyzed: Geographic (global south vs Western markets, and digital streaming providers (e.g. Spotify) vs social networks (preeminently Tik Tok). It is a deep and detailed report, characteristic of MIDiA Research and distributed to subscribers — but a summary version is HERE.

 

A Vital Guide

We learn from industry savant E.B. Moss of a newly published book by Media Ecologist and founder of The Myers Report Jack Myers. Titled The Tao of Leadership: Harmonizing Technological Innovation and Human Creativity in the AI Era, it will come out in Q1 2025. Says Myers: “This book is not just a culmination of my experiences but a vital guide for those leading — and those aspiring to lead — in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and rapid technological change.” The current moment is a crossrad, Myers says, where decisions have profound influence on human societies and the planet. The book is marketed as “finding equilibrium in a world or constant disruption. Principles of I Ching are woven in, and Myers acknowledges Peter Drucker’s seminal book Concept of the Corporation.
