Radio Disney expands online offerings with country music network

Radio Disney canvasRadio Disney announced plans to launch a country music network aimed at families this fall. Radio Disney Country will be a part of the Radio Disney app and third-party digital platforms. The network will include music videos, in-studio interviews, and performances.

This latest development at Radio Disney continues the company’s shift away from traditional AM/FM broadcasting in favor of streaming and online services. The growing popularity of streaming was a key motivator in Disney’s decision to shutter most of its terrestrial broadcast presence last August. Since then, Radio Disney has launched new digital channels on Slacker, joined the connected car trend, and teamed up with iBiquity for high-definition digital stations.
