Brief news items and worthy reads from around the web:

Billboard on global digital music projections: A recent study by Technavio projected that digital music would see global revenue of $16.02 billion by 2019. Glenn Peoples of Billboard conducted a review of the research, assessing how likely markets and listener bases are to achieve those levels of growth. While the study seemed to predict that the average revenue per user would rise over time, Peoples said it seemed more likely that subscription music services would see lower prices to attract more members.

Spotify adds touch and swipe controls for mobile: Spotify announced a small update to its mobile control scheme on iOS devices. The service added a Touch Preview, so users can now hold their finger on a playlist, album, artist, or song to hear a preview of that item. It also added a swipe function, so listeners can save a tune to My Music by swiping left. Swiping right adds the track to the queue.
