Pandora launches concert notifications

Pandora cube canvas 160wPandora has started leveraging its purchase of Ticketfly, adding concert notifications to its online music platform. The notifications are based on individual listening preferences pulled from Pandora’s Music Genome Project. They’re sent as push notifications on mobile and feed alerts within the app when a show is announced or tickets go on sale. Pandora said it will also begin sending regular emails rounding up concert information.

The addition has a few other user experience elements. After a show is announced, listeners can set reminders to buy tickets. When they go on sale, Pandora will direct listeners straight to the ticket purchase page.

“There’s nothing like the magic of a live show, and there’s nothing worse than missing your favorite band because you didn’t know they were in town,” said Tim Westergren, the company’s founder and CEO. “Pandora and Ticketfly are solving that with personalized and effortless access to live, local events.”

Pandora acquired Ticketfly in October in a deal valued at $450 million.
