Beats 1 launches first Spanish-language show with focus on trap music

Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio platform has launched its first Spanish-language show. “Trap Kingz” will air every two weeks, with a focus on the trap genre. Puerto Rican artist and trap specialist Bad Bunny will host the first six episodes of the program. Trap has become particularly popular for mainstream listeners in recent years thanks to crossover hits by reggaeton and rap performers. Bad Bunny will explore the history of the genre and highlight new trap music as well as sharing personal anecdotes with listeners.

The move by Apple to include Spanish programming is a reflection of the surge in Latin music among both U.S. and global audiences. The RIAA revealed growth in streaming revenue for Latin music in the U.S. over the first half of 2017, reaching revenue of $115 million.
