Apple files for additional Beats station trademarks

beats 1 radio logo canvasFollowing up on some earlier speculations, Apple has filed for the U.S. trademarks for additional Beats stations. French website Consomac reported that Apple now has applications under review for Beats 2 through Beats 5. The requests include the shorthand names B2-B5 as well.

We heard back in August that Apple’s contracts with labels would allow this type of station expansion to its Apple Music streaming platform. And when the service first launched, Kurt Hanson observed the similarity to the BBC’s station nomenclature and predicted this move would happen. That idea was backed up by a report from Richard Windsor of Edison Investment Research that delved into the future plans for the worldwide radio experiment.
