In a high-profile podcast-to-broadcast maneuver, Wondery-produced Sports Wars will play on selected Cumulus radio stations via the Westwood One syndication arm. Sports Wars is a new Wondery program, spun off the success of Business Wars. The sports program tells the stories of famous rivalries, in multi-episode format with a single narrator. The show is enhanced with light sound effects.
The crossover resembles experiments done by iHeartPodcast Network and iHeartMedia radio stations. Wondery CEO Hernan Lopez says that this is the first time an entire season of a podcast will be exported to radio.
