“What’s a radio?” asks NPR announcer

NPR was the first, and continually a vigorous advocate for smart speakers. The public radio network helped launch the breakthrough Alexa OS by providing the primary daily news program for smart speakers, Up First. Since then, NPR has exclusively partnered with Edison Research to produce The Smart Audio ReportĀ consumer survey of smart speaker adoption.

So it’s not altogether surprising that anĀ Up First host would calibrate his remarks to a devoted smart speaker audience. It was amusing to hear co-host Steve Inskeep jokingly pretend that he didn’t know what a radio was:
