The News/Talk format on U.S. radio received the largest share of time spent listening in the expansive 18+ age group. That finding from The Record: Q4 2024 Audio Data released by Nielsen and Edison Research.
The preeminence of News/Talk depends on age group. While it holds true for 18-plus, News/Talk is substantially demoted in the 18-34 cohort (which prefersAdult Contemporary).
These share measurements are delivered in two categories:
- All Radio (OA + Stream)
- AM/FM Station Streaming
Those categories are measured against four age groups:
- 18+
- 18-34
- 25-54
- 35+
News/Talk wins three of those groups by wide and conclusive margins. Interestingly, News/Talk is bumped to second place in the 25-54 group, displaced by Adult Contemporary.
