Spotify introduced a new video series called Traffic Jams. In this series, hip-hop producers and performers will create an original track over the course of a car ride. The creatives then perform their new work for a live audience at the end of the drive. Comedian DoBoy takes the wheel and hosts the program. Russell Simmons’ digital media company All Def Digital is producing Traffic Jams. New episodes will be released weekly on Spotify; the debut one features T-Pain and producer Southside, who have never collaborated before.
The new program seems inspired by the popular Carpool Karaoke segment from James Corden’s late-night talk show. Carpool Karaoke was optioned by Apple Music and will be one of that streaming service’s video exclusives.
