Spotify launches podcast API for third-party developers

Spotify has introduced a new podcast API for developers. The tool will allow third-party devs to create new ways for listeners to connect with podcasts on Spotify outside from the streaming service’s app or websites. It will offer similar functions to Spotify’s music API. The podcast version will offer developers access to show and episode titles, descriptions, and art, as well as programmatic searching through Spotify’s catalog. More features could be possible if listeners choose to grant permissions to their individual data.

The announcement was made on the Spotify for Podcasters platform, which officially launched in August 2019 after an extended beta test.
