Sony Music UK has promoted Adam Cardew for a newly-created post, vice president of podcasting and creative strategy. After acting as a digital director, Cardew’s new position will see him leading the podcast division’s growth, including launching a series of innovative, artist-led shows. His appointment is part of the 4th Floor Creative department, which unites Sony Music UK’s brand partnerships, sync and creative, and digital teams. So far this year, 4th Floor Creative has already launched podcasts with dating app Bumble, TV personality Adam Savage, and musician Robbie Williams.
“The growth in the podcast space makes it a pivotal moment to support our artists by connecting them with an expanding audience of new listeners,” Cardew said. “4th Floor Creative is uniquely positioned to create first-class podcasts and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve.”
The hire for the label’s UK branch follows on several new additions at Sony in recent months. The major has attracted talent away from Entercom, Pandora, Megaphone, and Stitcher to guide its efforts in audio.
