Democracy Lessons From Abroad
The Podglomerate notifies us of a new podcast launch. Called The Future of Our Former Democracy, produced by More Equitable Democracy and Seattle production company LARJ Media, the launch announcement asks this provocative question: “Why does American democracy suck right now?” It also anwers: There’s a major underlying issue: the polarizing winner-take-all electoral system. The podcast examines a proportional representation system in Norther Ireland, and explores how things would be if the U.S. built something similar. The show drops September 25, co-hosted by George Cheung (More Equitable Democracy Executive Director) and Colin Cole (More Equitable Democracy Director of Policy, Outreach, and Communications). Trapital is Dan Runcie’s website dedicated to analysis and strategic breakdowns of the modern music industry (“The business of music asnd media unpacked”) is running an interview transcript with the venerable (and RAIN Summit speaker) Will Page, former Chief Economist at Spotify. It’s titled What Music’s Next Growth Phase Will Look Like, and addresses the idea that music has reached a “peak oil” moment — that’s a theoretical time when oil production hits a maximum rate and slows down.
