Celeb-studded pod

Owen Wilson and Sissy Spacek are the latest film celebrities to enter podcasting, in the new iHeartPodcasts production Tom Slick: Mystery Hunter. The show is billed as a mostly true tale, and the hero is portrayed as “the most interesting man you’ve never heard of. In a “Facts behind the series” rundown, we learn that Tom Slick was (probably) a spy during World War Two, and was also a celebrated Yeti hunter in the Himalayas. Multi-platform production company School of Humans and its audio branch Audio Holdings are the money behind the project. (Listen HERE.)

New Beginning

Dave Zohrob informs his followers that he has worked his last day at Spotify, with thanks to a long list of colleagues. Zohrob joined Spotify when the audio giant acquired Chartable, a leading podcast advertising analytics and attribution service, in February of last year. “Chartable’s acquisition by Spotify has been the highlight of my career, Zohrob says. “I’m truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside some of the kindest and smartest people I’ve ever met.” It’s not a retirement; Zohrob is teaming with Chartable co-founder Harish Agarwal on an unspecified project. Agarwal remains with Spotify, it appears. “I’m excited to get back to building,” Zohrob says.

Roll or Stroll

In its latest Weekly Insights series, Edison Research informs us of public-location podcast listening trends, for weekly listeners, comparing U.S. and UK metrics. Public transportation is one of two public venues measured; the other is “Walking Around.” The latter is more popular — that’s the first takeaway. The second is that most people in both regions do neither. Only 14% of UK consumers listen to podcasts while walking; even less in the U.S. (6%). Public transportation is a podcast listening venue for six percent of UK listeners, and a meager two percent in the u.S. (The data source is Edison Podcast Metrics U.S. and UK Q1 2024. It’s packed into a single graphic, which can be gazed at HERE.
