Podtrac has released its ranking of the top 20 podcasts for January 2017. The most recent monthly chart has some small shuffles in placement, but the roster of shows in question looks the same as those from December. This American Life remains the most popular by U.S. unique monthly audience, followed by RadioLab and the TED Radio Hour. Stuff You Should Know and Freakonomics round out the top five.
As with the publisher rankings, most of the data for the show rankings come from Podtrac’s audience measurement tools. For the programs that are not Podtrac clients, placement in the chart is based on using publicly available data in the company’s algorithms.
