Pod Drop: A kid-hosted show, meditation, a mystery, and lots of food

Pod Drop highlights noteworthy new and upcoming podcasts from across the vast and fast-growing category.

Are You Kidding Podcast: iHeartRadio is continuing to expand its roster with a kid-focused new show. Enrique Santos, chief creative officer of iHeartLatino, is producing the Are You Kidding Podcast. The show tells the story of how brothers Brandom and Sebastian Martinez, ages 13 and 11, founded Are You Kidding Socks, which raises money for local and national charities as well as operating as a for-profit business. The eight-episode series begins today and it benefits Stand Up To Cancer.

Meditative Story: Thrive Global, Ariana Huffington’s well-being startup, is launching a podcast about mindfulness in partnership with WaitWhat, a business from two former TED media executives. Meditative Story is a blend of first-person narratives and guided meditation. The show is exclusively sponsored by Salesforce.com. Episodes will be available at its own website and on a range of podcast platforms.

Passenger List: Radiotopia recently added a new original podcast to its summer lineup. Passenger List is a fictional mystery story about an airplane that disappears mid-flight between London and New York. Kelly Marie Tran stars in the project, co-written and co-directed by creator John Scott Dryden and Lauren Shippen.

Green Eggs & Dan: Podglomerate is launching a new show mixing comedy and food. Dan Ahdoot hosts Green Eggs & Dan, which drops its first episode on August 7. The interview show will talk food with a range of celebrity guests including comedians, writers, actors, and of course, chefs.
