On the Move: Updates at ASCAP; downsizing at NPR Labs

On the Move tracks hires, promotions, and other notable personnel changes in the audio industry.


ASCAP shuffles membership division: ASCAP announced an overhaul to its Membership and Strategic Services department, which included the addition of a new role. DeDe Burns is being promoted to serve as the performing rights organization’s vice president of global customer services. Burns has spent a decade at ASCAP, with her last role that of vice president for membership and strategic services.

NPR nixes Labs positions: NPR is making three cuts to its NPR Labs program. Senior Technology John Kean is one of the people whose role is being ended; the two other staffers were not named. “NPR is committed to reaching a balanced budget again in FY16; investing strategically and finding efficiencies are some of the necessary steps to achieve this,” said Media Relations Director Isabel Lara. NPR said that the labs will continue working despite the cuts.
