In the July edition of Podtrac’s Podcast Industry Ranking Highlights, a ranking of podcast publishers, we see 21 podcast companies and their ranking by monthly audience, plays (downloads and streams), number of active shows, and the sales contact entity. (See the ranker below.)
The chart is sorted by Podtrac’s key metric: Unique Monthly Audience. In the RAIN Remix, we re-sort the list to consider the number of shows produced by each ranked publisher. The result has a leveling effect. For example, it’s not surprising that iHeartRadio holds the #1 position, as the producer of representative of nearly 30,000 shows. At the other end of this perspective, This American Life is impressively on this list at all (#18) with only one show.
