The name of Howard Stern feels synonymous with Sirius XM, and thanks to a new agreement, that will remain the case. Siriux XM signed a 12-year agreement with Stern that will see the broadcaster continuing to produce and host The Howard Sterm Show for the next five years. His eponymous show will keep broadcasting on the Howard 100 station live. Stern will also remain the producer of the Howard 101 channel, which features episodes of his show mixed in with original special programming. The agreement also includes provisions for the satellite radio company to license Stern’s audio and video library from the span of his broadcasting career.
Finally, the arrangement also covers the creation of new video programming with Stern. Details on how video will play a part in the satellite radio’s offerings were not shared. The press release only noted that it would include video of The Howard Stern Show in addition to clips from his archives and special programming.
Stern announced the new contract in typical fashion on his show. “If you are not listening to SiriusXM and The Howard Stern Show, then you are really more like a zombie, a rotting corpse monster, living half a life, deadened and blackened inside. It’s as if you were still watching black and white television while shopping in actual stores on your way to the post office to fax a memo,” he said.
