Gracenote announced plans to add an equalizer feature based on song metadata. The Gracenote Dynamic EQ automatically shifts equalizer settings based on data points such as the song’s genre, mood, era, and acoustic profile. The technology is intended for automakers and connected car systems at this stage, offering drivers a safer way to have good sound quality. But it has the potential to apply the tech to any audio-playing system.
In its press release, Gracenot added that it would be hosting demos of the Dynamic EQ at CES. For most people, December is a time to wrap up holiday festivity and reflect on the year gone by. For anyone in the tech fields, though, it’s also the month when preparations for the Consumer Electronics Show kick into high gear. The event lands in Las Vegas each January, and music tech usually has a potent presence on the floor. Last year, WiFi speakers and home audio were topics of interest. In just a few days – Jan. 6-9, to be exact – we’ll be seeing what the 2016 show has in store!
