Google to give away Google Home Minis through Christopher Reeve Foundation

Google announced that it will donate 100,000 Google Home Minis to people with paralysis and their caregivers. The company is acting in a partnership with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, and interested parties can apply for the free smart speakers through the foundation’s website.

The makers of smart speakers have been working to bring the devices into more settings that the home. Researchers have recently investigated how a smart speaker could help someone having a heart attack, and companies have suggested that a hands-free, voice control assistant would be useful for doctors.
