France H1 music report: Streaming is 63% of total revenue

French trade body SNEP has released its mid-year report on the domestic music industry. The nation saw its revenue increase 12.7% to €277.1 million in the first half. As with so many countries, streaming and digital growth helped the music industry to grow.

Total streaming revenue in the country grew 28.3% to €175.3 million ($195 million) in the first six months of the year — that is 63% of the revenue total. The growth was led by a jump of 25% in revenue from subscriptions and paid streaming, which reached a total of €138.1 million ($154 million) for the period.

Physical format sales continued to fall, posting a dip of 4.26% on-year. Download revenue dropped more dramatically, down 21.8%.
