European media and entertainment company Global released its own statistics about digital radio and podcast listening in March. These figures came from Global’s Data Platform and AudienceOne Data. DAX, Global’s digital advertising arm, provided the statistics for music streaming and Alexa briefings.
Global reported that digital listening has increased across its entire commercial radio brand portfolio. Connected radio listening over March 9-17 saw a spike of 15% in daily reach, while hours rose 9%.
Smart speakers performed particularly well for Global brands during the week in question. The company said radio listening via smart speaker rose 11% to its highest ever level. It also saw a 156% increase in Alexa flash news briefings. Music streaming also rose more than 23%, Global said.
DAX saw a 10% spike for its news podcasts. The division includes publishers such as LBC and Sky News.
