France H1: Revenue down overall, but streaming is up

French music industry group SNEP has published its H1 results, which saw digital sources continuing to grow despite an overall dip in revenue. SNEP reported a decrease of 2.3% in revenue to €189.5 million for the period.

The digital market now accounts for 55% of total music revenue in France. Streaming revenue is responsible for 84% of that digital share and 47% of the total French music market. Revenue from streaming posted a 27.3% increase to €87.5 million for the period.

Physical formats have taken a tumble in France. After holding a 68% share of the total music market in H1 2016, the sector has dropped to a share of 48% in H1 2017.
